TOC #183: What happens when you date someone who isn't normal
(June 25, 2024) Where to put keywords on your website
My newsletter is significantly less exciting now that I have a boyfriend.
I'm aware. And I'm sorry.
(TBT to when I used to write about first date icks and horrid dating app profiles and mid airport crushes and cheating assholes and getting matching tattoos on a first date…)
But — and, please, forgive and excuse me for being a gross Girlfriend Girl — I am so happy I don't have any of those stories to tell anymore.
Sure, Fish Boy was a fun character, but he was actually obsessed with his ex wife.
And, yeah, I suppose Shy Guy had potential, but he was actually really fucking weird and didn't know how to hold a conversation in person to save his life.
And, naturally, AJ was an iconic moment in time, which will be displayed on my skin forever, but it was a little unrealistic to build something with someone who lived 2,700 miles away, kept a loaded gun inside his nightstand, and loved Mac Miller more than he'd ever love me.
(I do still love his mom, though. Hi, Janice! Miss you!)
They all made for great stories. But none of them were great men.
NOW, THOUGH? 👀 🥵 ❤️ 😏 💋 ❤️🔥 👩❤️💋👨 💌
Let me tell you, I got a great man.
I've already given you a long ass list of WHY he's so great — and, if I'm being honest, I could add 7,438 more things to that list if I wanted. He's the best. I'm gonna keep him for a long, long time.
One of my favorite things he does for me, though?
HE HELPS 😩😩😩😩
You're probably not a single mother with raging unmedicated ADHD, a feral toddler, or the crippling inability to do dishes in a timely manner, so let me explain something to you:
Existing on my own is HARD. IT IS SO HARD.
…and, incredibly luckily for me, the boy understands that.
So, more often than not, when I go put Wesley to bed, he helps.
By the time I'm done putting on Woo's PJs, reading his stories, snuggling our Jellycats, and praying to the good Lord above that he'll fall asleep in a reasonable amount of time, I come out of his room to find:
Dishes, done.
Countertops, cleaned.
Stove, scrubbed.
Bed, made.
Laundry, folded.
Clothes, hung up and in my closet.
Trash, taken out.
First name / Bestie, he doesn't even LIVE WITH ME.
And he's out here acting like it's his home he's responsible for keeping pristine.
I could cry. I love him so much.
(For a zillion other reasons, like I said. This is just a cool fun bonus.)
There's only one problem.
I can't find a damn thing.
And I'd never tell him — I'm banking on him not reading this, actually, so you're not allowed to let him know that I'm blowing up his spot rn — but when he puts stuff away in my kitchen? It's basically just gone forever.
You see, I live in organized chaos, as many neurodivergent people do.
So when a ~neurotypical~ person comes in here and does the ✨logical✨ thing?
You'd think my red wine vinegar would go with my oils.
No, it lives next to the drinking glasses.
You'd think my tiny bowls go with my plates.
No, they go with Wesley's water bottles.
You'd think my Rubbermaid food containers go with my Our Place food containers.
No, they go in the pantry.
…and, to be fair, there's absolutely no way I'd expect the boy to know that.
He's normal. He's making an educated guess, based on what he thinks makes the most sense.
& if he were dating someone who also happened to be normal, maybe he'd be right.
But he's not.
He's dating me, and he gets to play the fun little guessing game of “where the fuck does this go?” for the rest of his life.
Where To Put Keywords On Your Website
I'm gonna go ahead and assume YOU have no interest in playing the “where the fuck does this go?” game with your website, so I'm gonna tell you exactly where to put your SEO keywords.
But before I share with you where to put your keywords on your website, there are a few things you need to know about SEO's relationship with website copy:
#1) Don’t ever force keywords into your copy — people can tell, and it's not worth it.
#2) Choose humans over robots (because, in reality, the robots are actually trying to help the humans).
#3) Know which pages you’re trying to rank for, and which pages it makes SENSE to rank for.
#4) Understand which keywords belong on which type of page — what’s good for a blog post isn’t the same as what’s good for Home or Services.
#5) Keyword density isn’t as serious as you think! Meaning: DO NAWTTT stuff a bunch of keywords onto a page just to try and have “as many keywords as you can."
Got it?! Good. Now, we can move on to where to put keywords on your website:
H1 Heading
Inside the first 200 words on the page
H2/H3 Heading
Naturally throughout the content
SEO title
Meta description
Image ALT text
URL slug

Sara Noel's New England Summer: Weekend Getaway Itinerary Series
If you're an out-of-towner, and you Google “Cape Cod must see"s, one of the first things that'll pop up is Wellfleet.
First, because of the Beachcomber.
Second, because of the National Seashore, even though that's technically Eastham's vibe.
And lastly, because of the oysters. The BOMB freaking oysters.
Wellfleet,
Massachusetts
A college friend of mine had a house in Wellfleet, and it was one of my most favorite places to go in the summer for so long. It's such a gorgeous yet different Cape vibe from where I grew up going — big, long, hilly beaches with surfers and sharks, compared to the flat, wide bayside beaches with families and ice cream trucks — and I still try to make it out here at least once or twice a summer.
🏘️ STAY AT…
This Airbnb. Wellfleet, to me, is cute little lake cottage vibes, when it comes to accommodations. I don't know why, but it feels right.
🌭 EAT AT…
For breakfast, it's PB's Boulangerie or else.
…unless the line is too long. Then, you'll want to get a bagel from Bagel Hound or head over to Blue Willow for a breakfast sandwich and pastry.
Lunch will be at the Beachcomber — one of the most famous Cape Cod beach bars / destinations — because you'll likely want to spend the day there. Get a mudslide and the crab cake sandwich. And some merch, too.
…unless you don't want to do the ~typical tourist~ thing. Then, you'll want to choose Lecount Hollow Beach (basically the same exact vibe as Cahoon Hollow Beach, which is where the Beachcomber is) and bring along some fried seafood takeout from PJ's.
For dinner, Mac's Shack is the best. Get the hand grenade roll and thank me later.
…unless you don't feel like going early to get a good seat with no wait. Then, you'll want to head over to The Pearl for chowder and mussels.
Somewhere along the way, you have to order oysters; Wellfleet is known for them. They even have an entire weekend-long festival dedicated to them every October.
🌊 STOP AT…
The Wellfleet flea market, open on weekend days, which happens to be in the same lot as the Wellfleet Drive In. I rec doing both!
AND THERE'S YOUR FUN SUMMER WEEKEND IN WELLFLEET, MASSACHUSETTS! 🦪
