New goal unlocked 🔓 and how I plan on reaching it
How I set and reach my goals — my exact process for determining whether a goal is worth working towards & my exact steps for getting there
The January energy may have worn off, but… that doesn’t mean we stop setting goals, caring about progress, or the things we want for ourselves.
I have absolutely no science to back this up, but I once heard somewhere that most people give up on their New Years goals by January 19.
This is likely because the goals they’re setting are wayyy too lofty, or unrealistic. Or because the “goal” was just something they felt pressured to set, not something they actually wanted to achieve, or genuinely cared about having.
So, today, we’re dissecting what it takes to set a goal you’ll actually REACH, starting with my next one, as an example.
I recently posted on Threads asking for suggestions for what to record my next podcast about, and got this comment from a fellow copywriter:
It got me thinking…
Do I find myself moving the goalpost?
And my answer was almost an immediate YES.
When I first started my business, I never thought I’d be this successful.
I was just a girl moving to a different country for a boy, looking for a remote job to do while she took care of her baby.
I never thought that boy would be able to quit his full time job 6 months later, because I could afford to fund our life.
I never thought I’d create a course, let alone multiple courses, let alone teach over a thousand students between all of them.
And I DEFINITELY never thought I’d be shooting for a 7-figure year at the age of 30.
One thing about me? I’M GONNA MOVE THAT GOALPOST.
I have 5 Capricorn placements. Pls.
It does not get more workaholic than me — because I genuinely love what I do, working hard on achieving my goals, and setting new goals to reach (and exceed).
But I also have plenty of goals I have never reached, and goals I’ve given up on because they weren’t actually aligned.
In today’s newsletter, I’m explaining how I reach the GOOD goals, and how to know when goals should be ditched.
